BAKING THE BUN

HOW MIGHT WE DEVELOP A COMFORT LEVEL AMONGST PARENTS AND CHILDREN TO FACILITATE CONVERSATIONS AROUND SEXUAL HEALTH?

Today, both parents and teens consider sex education as a very important affair. However, strong religious and cultural stigma around the topic often leads to awkward, embarrassing or at worse having no conversations at all. The challenge was to find a way to facilitate conversations freely. It is important to include parents when talking about sex education with youngsters in order to help them build trust and also remain sensitive to each other's privacy. Even the parents who want to talk to their kids about sexual health don’t find the right tools and facts to talk about it. The challenge here was to help them get over this awkwardness and find a way to facilitate these conversations freely.

This could be achieved by creating a strong Communicative Program that bridges the emotional gaps amongst the family. 'The sex talk' should be comfortable and fun like a dining table conversation. Using baking as a metaphor in our micro-website, we tried to remove the heavy baggage of scientific words and taboo revolving around sex and sexuality without compromising on the accuracy and appropriateness of the content and context of the education. The website would provide an outline of the workshops and other relatable content, which would facilitate a comfortable dialogue between parents and children of different age groups via interactive, fun and educative activities and discussions.
